First of all, THANKS Natalie for such a good nomination. Who doesn't love Captain von Trapp?!?
I was pleasantly surprised to see that "real life" captain wasn't unattractive (back when the mustache was in). But sigh! for Christopher Plummer.
I don't have much to add to Natalie's great list. Here are my additions (a mixture of real life and reel life):
Pros:
*The man can work a gazeebo!
*Likes to take long walks through the mountains
*A man in uniform--with medals to boot!
Cons:
*Was a Navy man (Unless he's a SEAL, I'm more of a Marine kind of girl.) Trivia Tidbit: Pretty cool that as a Navy man he married the granddaughter of the man who invented the torpedo.
*Married rich and lived off her money
*Commanded U-boats, the kind of sub that sank many of our men during the War
i never really pictured myself with the captain but i did like the forbidden love of the oldest daughter. that was romantic! and i love when she danced around the gazebo.
I have nothing to add to this one. Good nomination!
marmee: i had forgotten about what's his name! Isn't he the one who held them hostage and then didn't pull the trigger? i don't think they ended up together, did they?
mjm: yah, it was a good pick. but now i can't stop singing, "nothing comes from nothing/nothing ever could/so somewhere in my youth or childhood/i must have done something good..."
