Kirk Cameron

(Blogger's Note: This post was submitted by blog reader mjm.)

Basics:
Kirk Cameron is most famous for his role as Mike Seaver on the television show "Growing Pains" from 1985 to 1992. He was a teen idol in late 80s and appeared on the cover of Tiger Beat and Teen Beat magazines. He was a self-proclaimed atheist until 17 when he became a Christian. With the zeal of a new Christian, he desired to be a better role model and made waves on the set of "Growing Pains." He later fell in love with Chelsea Noble, a Christian who his character was dating on the show. They later married but had removed themselves from the rest of the cast who was not invited to their wedding. They now have six children together. Kirk is returning to the big screen in the fall as the star of the movie "Fireproof," the follow-up movie from the makers of "Facing the Giants."

Pros:
He's a Christian
Outspoken about his faith
Loves kids
Is involved in full-time ministry (Way of the Master)
A childhood star who has remained successful and grounded
Apologized for distancing himself from the rest of the cast of "Growing Pains" after becoming a Christian

Cons:
Married
Constantly recognized by everyone

Pros:
*Will always look like he's 20 even though he's now like 85 years old.
*Will know the lyrics to all the best songs ever made (80s music rocks)
*Might be able to introduce you to Leonardo DiCaprio

Cons:
*Reminds me of my brother Mike (who I would NOT want to marry, since he's my brother)
*Um, yah, he's already married...then again, so am I, which is why I tend to nominate dead people. :o)

ok, 85, he is not. but he does have that dick clark quality of remaining timeless and unchanged.

i would have to say that quality is a pro and a con.

pro: would look like your husband and then like your son(as you aged)
con: you would always be the older woman(they call it a cougar in hollywood)

he is very devoted to God and that has to top the list!

Me again...I just saw Kirk Cameron's new movie FIREPROOF. It was a special screening; the movie comes out nationwide on September 26.

It's a story about learning to never leave your partner behind. I'll probably blog about it more in depth on one of my other blogs. But I'd add it to Mr. Cameron's pro list. Good story. And while it seemed painfully awkard for him to act angry, he did a great job when it came to...well, I better not say or it would give it away!

There's another tidbit about the movie that way adds to his pro list, but I have to save it until after you've seen the flick. Go see it. Friday, 9/26.

Ooh, the Leo connection is good. I almost forgot about that poor troubled kid who randomly lived with the Seavers when they ran out of plot ideas!
