George Bailey

Blogger's Note: Thanks to Natalie for this post!

Basics:
George Bailey is the protagonist in the film It's A Wonderful Life, portrayed by all-American good-boy Jimmy Stewart. George Bailey repeatedly puts his own plans and desires aside for the good of his family, his father's business, and his town. After a hasty wish that he had never been born, his guardian angel shows him exactly what life would be like without him.

Pros:
Handsome
Extremely loyal to his family
Good father
Good dancer
Hard-working
Would love to travel, if he could get the time off
Takes on the town Grinch
Has his own guardian angel
Has made an impact on his entire town just by living in it and being the wonderfully ordinary man he is

Cons:
Works extremely hard at a low-paying, seemingly thankless job
That flighty Uncle Billy
Tends to drink when stressed
A weekend away is pretty much out of the question
Might commit suicide (if he believes it's for the good of his family)
Has a "martyr-ish" attitude at times

Confession...I have never seen this movie. Please do not throw stones at me!

No stones here, just turn on your tv around Christmas time and you're sure to find it. Although now they're showing A Christmas Story 24-7 (literally) more than It's A Wonderful Life, which I find very, very sad. I first saw it when I was dripping with angst in high school and I still loved it. Although, as someone once told me, I am an old soul. Still, a classic and a must-see.
